General Dentist salary in India can vary depending on interest and skills. The average salary is between 3-10 lakh per annum, with freshers starting at nearly 3 lakh. As dentists have Experience, location, and expertise earnings are also high equally. Dentists in larger cities and with advanced degrees (MDS) can command much higher salaries.
To pursue a career as a general dentist, one needs a strong foundation in science. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are required in Intermediate education (10+2), and one has to score high marks. For admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, you also have to qualify for competitive entrance exams like NEET-UG. It is also mandatory to take an internship. After that, you will be eligible to work as a general dentist.
