History of Masina hospital takes you back more than hundred years starting with a saga of services providing care and treatment to suffering human beings. A small sapling of health care planted by devoted & dedicated Dr. Hormasji Manekji Masina more than hundred years ago has grown into a huge tree providing wide range of medical facilities. Thousands of people get treated and benefited irrespective of their caste, creed and religion. Dr. Hormasji Manekji Masina was the third Indian to obtain the fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in 1898 and dreamed of setting up an institution for the treatment of weaker section of society. Thus in 1902 Dr. Masina started a small hospital with four patients in a building at clare road, byculla. Within 5 years, two adjacent buildings were taken to accommodate over 100 patients. Later Dr. Masina found it advisable to make a trust with prominent persons on board for proper application & administration of funds donated by general public. On 8th September 1907, Dr. Masina created a trust with donations received by various individuals and trustees such as Sir Shapurji Burjorji Bharucha, Jehangir Novroji Gamadia and Merwanji Nusserwanji Wadia.
