• Research and determine the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and /or ECCN classification for finished goods, equipment, raw materials, parts, non-production items etc.
• Assist and communicate with client and global team to resolve HTS Classification related queries.
• Support the execution of HTS classification, country of origin determination, valuation, free trade agreements, and other critical import trade compliance functions.
• Interact with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure complete, accurate and compliant information is declared to Customs authority and other government agencies to minimize delays and expedite release.
• Work with internal/external stakeholders to obtain the information required to ensure accurate country of origin, classification, and preference are assigned to components.
• Maintain organized records to support country of origin and trade preference qualification determination.
• Assess the consistency of existing country of origin information across jurisdictions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain corporate policies and procedures as they relate to trade preference strategies and initiatives.
Requirements:
• Minimum 1 – 5 years’ experience
• A background in International Trade or Master in Business Administration (MBA)
• Customs broker license and knowledge in customs clearance process or experience would be an advantage.
• Fluency in English. Other languages would be an asset.
• Technical degree or equivalent experience would be an asset.
• Experience with MS Office Applications, including proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Ability to read/analyse regulations and procedures.
• Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively.
• Working in a virtual global team.
