Research and determine the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and /or ECCN classification for finished goods, equipment, raw materials, parts, non-production items etc.
Assist and communicate with client and global team to resolve HTS Classification related queries.
Support the execution of HTS classification, country of origin determination, valuation, free trade agreements, and other critical import trade compliance functions.
Interact with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure complete, accurate and compliant information is declared to Customs authority and other government agencies to minimize delays and expedite release.
Work with internal/external stakeholders to obtain the information required to ensure accurate country of origin, classification, and preference are assigned to components.
Maintain organized records to support country of origin and trade preference qualification determination.
Assess the consistency of existing country of origin information across jurisdictions.
Develop, implement, and maintain corporate policies and procedures as they relate to trade preference strategies and initiatives.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 5 years experience
A background in International Trade or Master in Business Administration (MBA)
Customs broker license and knowledge in customs clearance process or experience would be an advantage.
Fluency in English. Other languages would be an asset.
Technical degree or equivalent experience would be an asset.
Experience with MS Office Applications, including proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Ability to read/analyse regulations and procedures.
Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively.
