Wall & Floor Tiler (Full Time)

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to apply the skills, competency, and experience of a qualified Floor & Wall Tile (Granite & marble) to a range of tasks as allocated by the supervisors.

Duties & Responsibilities

• In this role you will be responsible for installing tiles. You will be working in high-end residential homes and travelling to and from commercial businesses throughout the Australia region.

• Cutting and shaping tiles with a range of tools such as wet saw, and handheld cutters.

• Preparing various surfaces for tiling with waterproof materials.

• Creating decorative wall and floor designs.

• Cutting installing, and polishing different surfaces including granite, marble and stone.

• Aligning tiles, straighten them with straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure patterns are even and precise.

• Always keep the working area clean.

• Examining plans, measuring, and marking surfaces and laying out work.

• Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning surfaces.

• Spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles and setting tiles in position.

• Using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fittings and pipes.

• Ensuring tiles are correctly aligned and spaced.

• Grouting tiles, and cleaning and removing excess grout.

• Applying waterproofing systems.

• May lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition.

• May lay coloured tiles in patterns to create mosaics.

Qualifications – Licences, Certificates & Competencies

• Valid Driver License.

• Trade Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (desirable)

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a wall and floor tiler, must know the construction industry.

• Experience in waterproofing, epoxy grout, natural stone tiling, sealing, laying of natural stone, and mosaics.
