Job Description: Position Name : Safety Officer Educational Qualification: a) Possesses a recognised degree in Chemical Engineering or Technology b) Possesses a degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety, recognised by the State Government c) Has adequate Knowledge of Tamil Language Skills and Competency a) Hands on experience in Job hazard analysis, safety audit, safety inspection Risk Assessment, permit to work system, HAZOP study & Process Safety Management System, Occupational Health Monitoring, first Aid, fire fighting, HIRA , Safety Training b) Knowledge on Indian Factories Act 1948, Tamil Nadu Factories Rules 1950, Dock Safety Regulations and other legal regulations c) Knowledge on various safety management practices such as ISO :208, ISO:9001 and ISO standards etc d) Knowledge on various safety and fire protection, fire fighting equipment’s e) Knowledge on various standards like IS Standard for fire protection and safety etc f) MS Office, MIS Presentation Skill and Hands on experience in SAP is preferable. g) Communication Skills in English and additionally Hindi preferred h) Ability to establish and maintain key relationships with external, statutory authorities and internal business stake holders. Experience / Age a) 2-5 Year’s experience in safety department in large chemical Petrochemical / fertilizer industry b) Age 30-35 Key Responsibilities a) The safety officer is responsible for monitoring and eliminating hazardous and unsafe situations b) Developing measures to assure personal safety by enforcing safety guidelines c) Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority d) To issue and monitor compliance to work permit system in plant e) Conducts investigations of all accidents and near – misses f) Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and contractors g) Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity
