Job Title: Restaurant Trainee
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation: Assist with basic prep work, such as washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling components for dishes.
• Learning Cooking Techniques: Shadow senior chefs to learn cooking methods and techniques, assisting in tasks such as sautéing, grilling, or plating under supervision.
• Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the kitchen clean and organized by following hygiene standards, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and cleaning cooking tools and equipment.
• Stock Management: Help in managing kitchen stock, ensuring ingredients are stored correctly, and assist with stock rotation to avoid waste.
• Assisting with Service: During busy service periods, provide support by assisting with garnishing, plating, and preparing simple dishes.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Learn and adhere to health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and proper kitchen etiquette.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Eagerness to Learn: A strong willingness to learn and grow within the restaurant industry, whether in the kitchen or front-of-house.
• Basic Understanding of Food Safety or Customer Service: Any prior knowledge of food safety or customer service is beneficial, though not mandatory.
• Teamwork: Ability to work well with others, both with kitchen staff or front-of-house colleagues, to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
• Attention to Detail: Focus on following instructions carefully, ensuring food is prepared and presented correctly, or service is performed to the restaurant's standards.
• Good Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, guests, and supervisors.
• Physical Stamina: Willingness to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment, whether on your feet for long periods or handling heavy kitchen equipment.
