Job Description

The role of a receptionist at an eye hospital involves a variety of tasks centered around patient interaction, administrative duties, and coordination within the medical facility. Heres an overview of the responsibilities and skills typically associated with this role:

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Reception and Registration:

Greet patients and visitors as they arrive.

Register patients, verify their information, and update medical records.

Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, including consent forms and insurance information.

Appointment Scheduling:

Schedule and manage patient appointments using the hospital's booking system.

Coordinate with ophthalmologists and other medical staff to organize appointment slots and follow-up visits.

Remind patients of their upcoming appointments via phone, email, or text.

Handling Inquiries:

Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries regarding services, appointments, and general information.

Provide clear information about procedures, waiting times, and hospital policies.

Billing and Payments:

Process payments, handle billing queries, and ensure that patient accounts are up-to-date.

Liaise with insurance companies for claims processing and reimbursement.

Administrative Support:

Maintain patient records, ensure confidentiality, and manage filing systems.

Assist with the preparation of reports, documents, and correspondence.

Manage inventory of office supplies and order new stock when necessary.

Patient Coordination:

Assist patients in understanding their treatment plans, follow-up requirements, and next steps.

Provide support for patients with special needs, such as elderly or visually impaired individuals.

Coordination with Medical Staff:
