OTR Tire Technician (OFF THE ROAD)
The successful applicants are responsible for the maintenance of heavy equipment tires. This includes Haul Trucks, Rigid Truck, Articulated Dump Truck, Graders, Loaders, Light Vehicle and other support equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Dismount and mount OTR commercial, passenger, and light tires to industry standards.
• Determines repairable tire conditions and makes needed repairs per TIA specifications.
• Mounts and safely inflates tires to prescribed PSI, per load requirements.
• Repair tires as needed; replacing valve stems, removing puncturing objects
• Operates all related tire service equipment including but not limited to jacks, compressors, electric and hydraulic equipment.
• Keeping service truck, tools and equipment clean and maintained
• Perform tire maintenance according to industry standards, procedures and practices
• Communicate updates to supervisor to ensure goals are met;
• Perform 24-hour Emergency Service. Be in rotation of on-call duty and/or back-up duty
• Capable of operating lift gates, service tools, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, air guns, air gauges, mounting and balancing machines, and computer and office equipment
Qualifications
• 3-year experience on heavy equipment tires in a mining environment;
• Tire Industry Association Certificate (TIA) or TIA Training required
• Tire truck (knuckle boom) manipulator experience an asset
• Effective communication skills – both oral and written, as well as solid interpersonal and problem solving skills
• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of maintenance activities.
