Key Responsibilities:

Preoperative Care:

Patient Assessment: Assess the patient's physical and emotional condition before surgery, including checking medical history, allergies, and medications.

Preparation: Prepare the operating room by ensuring it is sterile, organized, and equipped with necessary surgical instruments and supplies.

Patient Education: Provide patients with information on what to expect during the surgical procedure and the recovery process.

Assist with Patient Positioning: Ensure the patient is safely and correctly positioned for the procedure.

Intraoperative Care (During Surgery):

Sterile Technique: Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room to prevent infection, including wearing proper attire (gown, gloves, mask).

Assisting the Surgical Team: Hand surgical instruments, sutures, and other supplies to the surgeon as needed.

Monitoring Patient's Vital Signs: Monitor the patient's vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature during the surgery, and inform the surgical team of any changes.

Assisting Anesthetist: Work alongside the anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist to ensure proper anesthesia administration and patient comfort.

Documentation: Keep accurate records of the surgical procedure, including any complications or changes to the planned procedure.

Postoperative Care:

Patient Recovery: Ensure the patient is safely moved from the operating table to the recovery area and monitor their condition closely.

Pain Management: Administer prescribed medications to manage post-surgery pain and assist with patient comfort.

Monitoring Vital Signs: Continue to monitor the patient's vital signs, including respiratory and cardiac status, in the recovery room.

Postoperative Instructions: Provide instructions to patients and family members on post-surgery care, including wound care, signs of complications, and follow-up appointments.
