Roles and Responsibilities
To be responsible for maintaining highest standards of nursing care for the patient the NICU
To ensure proper handover of and takeover charge at each change of shift.
To delegate & assign the duties in the respective department to staff nurses and other staffs.
To take regular rounds of their respective wards and monitor the nursing care extended to the patients.
To be responsible for accompanying the consultant for the daily rounds or assigning relevant nurse with consultants and keep the physician informed of any adverse reactions to prescribed treatment or any problem which may necessitate medical intervention.
To evaluate the effectiveness of patients care and provide improvement by research based nurse practice and participate in the Nursing Quality Assurance program.
To maintain the ward admission and discharge register and ensure accurate documentation adhering to the Sops in the event of discharge, transfer or death case.
To be responsible for facilitating transfer of patient from one ward to another in coordination with the Medical officer and IPR counter.
To be accountable for maintenance of emergency & dangerous drugs including costly drugs under safe custody in their respective wards and carrying out the physical checks of the same.
To be responsible for monitoring biomedical waste management for their respective wards as per infection control protocol.
To supervise the departmental documentation procedure & ensure its accuracy.
To be responsible for inventory management of the respective wards & maintaining stock registers of the ward equipment and drugs.
To ensure that the materials/equipment entered in the issue without order register are replenished at the department and billed to the respective patients.
To carry out any other work assigned by the management.
To ensure a detailed departmental induction is conducted for all new employees in the team and routinely reviewed with Training Manager and mentee.
