Perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain and treat wounds, vascular disorders and diseases such as Parkinson's and epilepsy.

Perform surgery to relieve hydrocephalus, the abnormal build-up of cerebrovascular fluid in the brain.

You may focus on the correction of deformities and treatment of diseases of the spinal cord such as degenerative spine disorder and scoliosis. Other areas like sub-specialization include pediatric neurosurgery and radiosurgery and use by radiation to treat tumors.

Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating and liaising closely with colleagues.

Provide support and advice to colleagues working in other specialties.

Practice governance and audits within your department.

Complete administration, which can include anything from accurately recording patient interventions and referrals to overseeing budgetary information.
