Laboratory work: Perform experiments, monitor cultures, and analyze samples

Testing: Test patient samples for infections, and test products for contamination

Development: Develop new medical treatments, biofuels, and vaccines

Safety: Ensure the safety of food and medicine

Pollution: Use microorganisms to control pollution
