A **Medical Billing Executive** is responsible for managing and overseeing the billing and coding processes within a healthcare organization, ensuring that all services provided are properly billed to insurance companies, government programs, or patients. They play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely submission of medical claims, handling payment issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations.

### Job Description:

#### **Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Medical Billing & Coding:**

- Review and code medical records based on diagnoses, procedures, and services provided.

- Ensure proper coding according to the standard coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).

- Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies, government agencies, and patients.

2. **Claims Management:**

- Monitor and track claims to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance companies.

- Follow up on rejected, denied, or unpaid claims and resolve issues with insurance companies or patients.

- Work with patients and healthcare providers to resolve billing disputes and ensure proper payment.

3. **Documentation & Record Keeping:**

- Maintain detailed and accurate billing records, ensuring they are compliant with healthcare regulations.

- Prepare reports on billing activities, outstanding claims, and reimbursements.

4. **Insurance Verification & Authorization:**

- Verify patient insurance coverage before services are rendered.

- Obtain and track authorization for specific medical procedures when required by insurance companies.

5. **Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:**

- Ensure that billing practices comply with healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant guidelines.

- Stay updated with any changes in healthcare billing rules and insurance policies.
