Design and development: Researching new technologies, creating prototypes, and testing new designs

Quality control: Performing quality control tests to ensure products are safe to sell

Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities

Safety compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols

Project management: Preparing cost and material estimates, project schedules, and reports

Tool maintenance: Taking care of tools and maintaining a clean work environment

Mechanical technicians should have a solid technical background, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. They should also be able to work in non-ideal environments, such as confined spaces, working at heights, and around chemicals.
