Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer:

Design and Development:

• Designing molds for iron castings based on product specifications, accounting for material properties, shrinkage, and heat treatment.

• International travel will be required, with all expenses and allowances covered.

Production Planning:

• Optimizing casting processes to ensure desired quality and production volumes.

• Managing furnace operations, pouring techniques, and cooling procedures with expertise in various iron casting standards.

Quality Control:

• Inspecting cast iron components for defects such as porosity, cracks, and dimensional inaccuracies using advanced quality control methods.

Material Selection:

• Selecting suitable iron alloys, including ductile and nodular irons, to meet the mechanical property requirements of the final product.

Troubleshooting:

• Identifying and addressing casting defects, mold failures, and production delays effectively.

Foundry companies.

• Collaborating with large industrial foundries specializing in iron castings, particularly in regions such as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Punjab, and West Bengal.

• Contributing to projects in the automotive industry.

Relevant Skills for the Role:

Foundry Engineering Principles:

• Expertise in mold making, pattern design, pouring techniques, and heat treatment processes.

Material Science:

• Comprehensive knowledge of various iron types, alloys, and their properties.

Quality Control Techniques:

• Proficiency in dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and non-destructive testing methods.

Design Software Expertise:

• Competency in AutoCAD, CAM, NX CAD, and other 3D engineering software for designing molds and patterns.
