Job Description: Manufacturing Chemist (Nutraceutical Products)
Position Overview:
A Manufacturing Chemist specializing in nutraceutical products is responsible for overseeing the production of dietary supplements, functional foods, and other health-related products. This role involves applying scientific knowledge and regulatory expertise to ensure the safe and efficient manufacturing of nutraceuticals, while maintaining product quality, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning: Collaborate with production managers and supply chain professionals to develop manufacturing schedules for nutraceutical products, considering factors such as ingredient availability, production capacity, and customer demand.
Raw Material Procurement: Work closely with procurement teams to source high-quality raw materials, including vitamins, minerals, botanical extracts, and other nutritional ingredients, from reputable suppliers. Verify the authenticity and purity of raw materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Formulation Development: Assist in the formulation and reformulation of nutraceutical products, collaborating with research and development teams to optimize ingredient concentrations, bioavailability, and sensory attributes. Conduct feasibility studies and pilot-scale trials to evaluate new formulations.
Batch Processing: Oversee batch manufacturing processes for nutraceutical products, including blending, granulation, encapsulation, and tableting. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain product consistency and minimize contamination risks.
Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process, including raw material testing, in-process monitoring, and finished product analysis. Perform assays for potency, purity, and stability to ensure compliance with regulatory specifications and label claims.
