Job Description

Machine Learning Engineer - Street Simplified

Full-time, Remote: US Time, PST

At Street Simplified, we use video analytics to help public sector agencies understand why crashes happen and give them the tools to proactively prevent them. We are looking to hire a Machine Learning Engineer who is passionate about eliminating crashes and saving lives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop new capabilities that eliminate crashes & save lives

Implement/extend the core code base to provide additional functionality & support

Design production tests and production deployment system

Experience:

Experience working on very large 100+ GB datasets

Experience managing a large code base, following best practices, clean coding, documentation, commits, testing

Experience solving difficult math/ physics problems

Experience programming in Python and preferably also C/C++

Experience interfacing with AWS for production processing

Experience with (As many as possible)

Data Science

Machine learning

Real-time edge computing (preferably on NVIDIA hardware)

Statistics

Optimization

Training neural networks

Classical computer vision

Signal Processing

Algorithm development

Qualifications:

Masters, or PhD in EE, CS, Physics, or a related field (compensation will vary based on expertise, experience, and education)

Proven track record of solving difficult technical problems across domains

Highly efficient programmer/ multitasker

Must communicate effectively in spoken and written English

About Street Simplified LLC

Street Simplified was founded in 2016 with a mission to eliminate traffic crashes worldwide. Our team has grown from three Caltech/JPL/UCLA engineers working out of my garage to 17 team members across four states and four countries.

The idea behind Street came late one night on a trip home from Caltech. Pulling up to a red light just a block off campus, I wondered, why do I have to wait when no one else is there? What if we could use cameras and computer vision to detect vehicles on approach and give them a green light before they reach the signal? That idea inspired the companys founding and our initial development.

In 2019, just a month after we got married, my wife Zeleen was hit in a crash that no one bothered to report. She couldnt walk without pain for nearly a year and still suffers from the event. My perspective and the focus of our team shifted to helping agencies save lives and provided the impetus for our current safety analytics offering.
