1. Collect and store samples necessary for required wastewater analyses; analyze for
contamination using a variety of Environmental Protection Agency-approved methods and
procedures; interpret test results.
2. Record information, results, and procedures on tests run.
3. Monitor plant compliance with State and Federal treatment regulations; inform supervisor of
procedures, analysis results or trends that could result in any violation of regulations.
4. Performs a variety of preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and servicing
operations for the City's wastewater treatment plant.
5. Conducts special laboratory tests related to plant operations and outside agencies.
6. Gathers and tests wastewater samples for plant efficiency reports as required.
7. Responds to emergencies regarding wastewater system failures, leaks, or other problems;
evaluates situation and performs necessary repairs.
8. Calibrates, modifies or repairs instrumentation and control equipment including recorders,
flowmeter and other water quality monitoring equipment.
9. Operates and checks equipment, instruments, pumps, valves, meters, and other apparatuses;
operates pumps and valves to control and adjust flow and treatment process.
10. May assist in the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater plant; may collect
