Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Plant Tissue Culture Lab Supervisor Namibia(Africa). The Lab Supervisor will oversee daily operations, manage laboratory equipment, ensure quality control, and utilize analytical skills to support plant tissue culture processes.
Propagation of plant material - Takes responsibility for the propagation of plant material, initially focussed on banana and date plants, extending into other fruits, ornamentals, and medicinal plants.
Subcultures - Prepares media for subculturing the plants by weighing the chemicals according to protocol to ensure that media has optimal nutrients for plant growth & multiplication.
Subculture plant material received in a sterile process to ensure that the plant material is disease free and follows incubation process until cycle is complete.
Climate Conditions - Controls optimal climatic conditions in the growth room by checking and adjusting the climate including temperature, humidity, and lights to ensure plants are grown in optimal conditions.
Trains assistants in multiplication of plant material.
Equipment Maintenance - Keeps all equipment well maintained through regular inspection, cleaning, and calibration to ensure reliable results.
