An ICU Staff Nurse is a registered nurse who works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital or healthcare facility. They are responsible for providing direct, specialized care to critically ill or unstable patients. ICU nurses monitor vital signs, manage complex medical equipment, administer medications, and assist with a variety of life-saving procedures. Their role is crucial in ensuring patient safety and improving outcomes in the critical care setting.

Job Description:Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Monitoring:

Monitor Vital Signs: Continuously monitor and assess patients' vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature, etc.) and take appropriate action based on changes.

Administer Medications: Administer prescribed medications, intravenous (IV) fluids, and treatments according to doctors' orders, and monitor the effects on patients.

Assess Patient Conditions: Regularly assess the patients condition and report any changes to the medical team, adjusting care plans as needed.

Life Support and Medical Equipment Management:

Operate Medical Equipment: Operate complex medical equipment, such as ventilators, defibrillators, ECG monitors, infusion pumps, and other devices essential for critical patient care.

Provide Ventilator Support: Assist in managing ventilator settings and provide airway management for patients requiring mechanical ventilation.

Assist in Critical Procedures: Assist physicians during medical procedures such as intubation, catheter insertion, and central line placement.

Treatment and Care Plan Implementation:

Assist with Nursing Procedures: Perform nursing procedures such as wound dressing, catheterization, IV insertion, and administering blood products.

Implement Care Plans: Follow established care plans for each patient and contribute to the development of individualized care strategies in collaboration with the medical team.
