Key responsibilities of a heavy truck mechanic:

Diagnostics and Inspections:

Thoroughly inspecting trucks to identify potential issues and worn parts.

Utilizing diagnostic tools to pinpoint the cause of malfunctions in engine, transmission, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

Repairs and Maintenance:

Performing routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid level checks, tire rotations, and filter replacements.

Replacing worn or damaged parts like brakes, clutches, belts, and hoses.

Repairing or replacing engine components, including pistons, valves, and injectors.

Troubleshooting and fixing electrical issues within the vehicle.

Adjusting and aligning suspension systems.

Documentation and Communication:

Maintaining detailed repair records, including parts replaced and work performed

Communicating with customers regarding repair needs and estimated costs

Collaborating with parts departments to order necessary components
