Position: Head Chef

Job Summary:
We're looking for a skilled and energetic Head Chef to take charge of our kitchen team in Moshi City, Tanzania. The perfect candidate should have a solid experience in BBQ and grill methods, as well as a background in Indian cuisine. This position involves inventing new dishes, running the kitchen smoothly, and leading the staff efficiently. The chosen chef should be eager to adapt to a new cultural environment and capable of working with a diverse team that might not be fluent in English.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a Head Chef, leading a professional kitchen.
- Formal culinary degree.
- Advanced level of English
- Experienced in BBQ and grill cooking techniques, as well as Indian cuisine.
- Experienced in using POS systems for managing recipes and tracking inventory
- Strong leadership
- Good communication skills
- Easygoing and adaptable to new cultures and environments.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enhance food quality.
- Manage food preparation times.
- Oversee the usage of products.
- Maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen.
- Keep track of kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Conduct daily meetings with kitchen staff.
- Organize and oversee kitchen preparations.
- Schedule shifts for kitchen staff.
- Conduct interviews for new chef positions.
- Oversee kitchen cleaning.
- Handle product deliveries from suppliers.
- Manage the reception of products from storage.
- Document all recipes in an electronic recipe book.
- Develop new recipes and calculate costs for POS.
- Perform stocktaking.
- Place orders for products and kitchen equipment.
- Create 2-3 special dishes every one to two weeks.
- Organize special events and caterings.
- Train new cooks.
- Cover shifts in case of staff shortages.
- Resolve conflicts within the kitchen.
- Plan vacations and leaves for the kitchen team.
- Address customer issues and requests in person.
