Job Description

Surgeons assess patients with injuries, deformities, diseases or chronic conditions and determine if it is possible to treat them surgically. Most surgeons specialise in specific areas, such as orthopaedic, paediatric, cardiac, neurology or reconstructive surgery. For performing operations, they work with a team of other surgeons, anaesthesiologists and nurses. They prescribe medications and recommend post-operative care, diet and physical therapy.
