Researching and qualifying leads
Field sales representatives travel to potential customers' locations to research and qualify them, and then offer products or services.
Meeting with customers
Field sales representatives meet with existing customers face-to-face to build relationships, satisfy their needs, and maximize profitability. This may include helping with maintenance, placing orders, negotiating prices, and more.
Developing sales strategies
Field sales representatives forecast sales, develop sales strategies, and evaluate their effectiveness. They also evaluate customers' skills and needs to build long-lasting relationships.
Networking
Field sales representatives engage in networking to attract new customers and expand their company's customer base.
Other tasks
Field sales representatives may also perform other tasks, such as product demonstrations, market research, contract negotiations, and customer service.
Field sales representatives may need to travel to different locations, both within and outside of their local area, depending on the company and its size. They may also need to accept travel assignments on short notice.
