The Ideal Candidate Will Be An Innovative Teacher/designer with An Advanced Degree in a Fashion Related Field or Equivalent Credentials; Eight or More Years of Professional Experience in the Fashion Industry; and a Dynamic Leader with Demonstrable Administrative Experience. the Successful Candidate Will have a Minimum of Five Years College-level Teaching Experience, Preferably with At Least Three Years Full-time, Teaching all Levels of Design and Construction Studios as Well as Experience Teaching a Combination of the Following Classes: Drawing, Draping, Apparel Fabrics, Portfolio Development and History of Costume. the Successful Candidate Will have a Demonstrable Record of Professional Achievement in the Fashion Industry and Promise of Continued Active Professional Involvement in the Industry And/or with Appropriate Professional And/or Academic Organizations. the Chair Promotes Excellence in Teaching, Creativity, Research and Engagement Through Mentoring, Peer Reviews and Program Assessment. the Chair Will Be a Creative Visionary, Knowledgeable About the Larger Field of Fashion; Current and Future Trends in the Industry such as Wearable Technology; Demonstrable Ability to Increase the Visibility of the Major and Further Strengthen Its Regional, National and International Presence and the Ability to Make Connections in Order to Support a More Global Perspective Within the Curriculum and for Internship Placements. to Excel in this Position An Individual Will Be Able to Increase the Number of Contemporary Fashion Industry Contacts and Facilitate Active and Meaningful Student Engagement with Outside Professionals. Outstanding Written and Communication Skills are a Must. Building On the Departments Strong History, the Chair Will Guide Innovative Curriculum Development Within the Major and Through Electives such as Fashion Merchandizing, Technology in Fashion and other Business Courses that Will Prepare Students to Be Agile in the Current and Future Joba Market.
