Job Purpose:
As a Commis Chef 1, you will play an essential role in supporting the kitchen team by assisting in food preparation and ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. You will work under the guidance of senior chefs to assist with the preparation and cooking of meals, gaining hands-on experience and learning the basics of culinary arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
Cooking: Under supervision, help in cooking and plating dishes as per the restaurant's menu and standards.
Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including all workstations, tools, and equipment.
Stock Management: Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food and supplies. Ensure proper rotation of stock to minimize waste.
Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with local regulations and restaurant policy.
Quality Control: Assist in ensuring the quality, taste, and presentation of the food meets the establishment's standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team to support smooth kitchen operations during busy periods.
Learning & Development: Continuously develop culinary skills and knowledge, including understanding different cooking techniques, methods, and kitchen tools.
Cleaning and Disinfecting: Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and tools, ensuring they are sanitized for safety.
Key Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in a similar kitchen role is preferred but not required (training will be provided).
Skills: Basic cooking skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Communication: Good communication skills to effectively work with the kitchen team.
Education: Culinary training (formal or informal) is an advantage but not
