Drink preparation
Bartenders prepare and serve a variety of drinks, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. They may also mix new cocktails or drink combinations.
Bar maintenance
Bartenders keep the bar clean and organized, including washing glasses and utensils. They also maintain the bar's inventory and ensure it's well-stocked.
Alcohol service
Bartenders ensure that customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs. They also monitor customer alcohol consumption and refuse service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
Cash handling
Bartenders collect money from customers for drinks prepared and served. They also balance cash receipts to record sales.
Other duties
Bartenders may also set up, operate, maintain, and close the bar. They may train new staff members, and participate in programs to improve quality of service and employee productivity.
