Anesthesia Technician for Maldives
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Resourcefulness in helping Operation Theater to improve and achieve organizational goals.
i. Assist to carry out activities to promote optimum functioning of the Operation Theater.
ii. Collaborate with Operation Theater staff in continuous quality improvement activities.
iii. Provide direct feedback to shift-in-charge nurse/ theatre-in-charge and anesthetist when equipment is not functioning and other issues related to anesthesia.
2. Able to perform tasks professionally applying up-to-date knowledge and ethical practices.
i. Prepare operating room for indicated procedures including setting up and calibrating monitoring equipment, maintaining inventory and stock for theater cases.
ii. Anesthesia machine check, basic set up for general, MAC, or regional cases.
iii. Check operating room schedule to determine equipment needs for procedure and prepare Operating Rooms for daily workload.
iv. Check the anesthesia sets and bundles before the elective/emergency cases.
v. Monitoring of patients before, during and after surgeries.
vi. Timely documentation of all interventions related to anesthesia.
vii. Clean and maintain of the anesthesia machines and accessories.
viii. Assist anesthetist using aseptic technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral, central intravenous or arterial line placement, airway management techniques including mask, endotracheal tubes, and regional anesthesia techniques.
ix. Fault report of equipment/ accessories to the anesthetist and theater in-charge.
x. Takes responsibility in handling equipments.
xi. Maintain necessary records related to anesthesia equipment and machines.
xii. Maintain confidentiality of patients.
xiii. Communicate with patients while preparing them for anesthesia.
xiv. Protects own self and see for the safety of others.
i. Recognize limitations and seek guidance from anesthesiologist.
