An Airport Cargo Agent is responsible for the coordination and management of cargo shipments via air transportation. This role involves ensuring that all processes related to the shipment of goods are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipment Coordination:
Organize and oversee the collection, delivery, and transit of cargo shipments.
Ensure timely processing of shipments to meet delivery schedules.
Documentation Management:
Prepare and verify all necessary paperwork for cargo shipments, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and other regulatory forms.
Maintain accurate records of cargo information such as size, weight, dimensions, and tracking details.
Customer Service:
Handle customer inquiries regarding cargo services and provide information about shipping options.
Assist clients with booking inquiries and payment options for their shipments.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all cargo shipments comply with international regulations and airline policies.
Prepare international shipments for customs clearance by completing required tariffs.
Cargo Handling:
Coordinate with ground handling teams to ensure proper loading, unloading, and securing of cargo on aircraft.
Monitor the status of cargo during transit to address any issues that may arise.
Problem Solving:
Troubleshoot problems related to lost or missing shipments.
Negotiate shipping rates with clients and suppliers as necessary.
