There are many factors that affect the role of an airline ground staff, such as the type of airline, size of the airport and the number of flights arriving or departing on a daily basis. Sometimes, a larger airport might require extra help from staff members than smaller ones. The airline staff usually performs administrative duties, communicates clearly with the passengers and ensures that the passengers have a great experience during their travel. The key tasks of the ground staff in airlines may include:

Ensuring safety and security of the passengers at the airport and making sure that the passengers have a comfortable travel

Welcoming the passengers at the arrival gates and assisting the concerned passengers onboard

Providing relevant information to the passengers and directing them to the correct terminals

Selling tickets at the kiosk of the airlines at the airport

Checking in the baggage from passengers at the terminals, tagging them correctly as per the passenger's destiny and processing luggage and other baggage items

Helping passengers confirm flight and meal reservations

Ensuring excellent airport lounge services for passengers

Assisting passengers with special needs and disabilities

Helping passengers travelling with little children

Stocking meals, water and refreshments in the aircraft before each departure

Ensuring that the aircraft is clean before each departure

Assisting passengers whose flights are delayed or cancelled or re-routing passengers as necessary

Handling the loading and unloading of the passengers' luggage from the aircraft and sending it to the baggage conveyors and counters
