Primary Responsibilities

Cargo Handling:

Load and unload cargo from transport vehicles.

Sort and organize cargo according to specific instructions to ensure proper balance and safety.

Equipment Operation:

Operate various types of machinery such as forklifts, cranes, conveyor belts, and other specialized equipment used in cargo handling.

Ensure that all equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

Stowing Cargo:

Carefully stow cargo within the vehicle or vessel to maintain proper weight distribution.

Follow guidelines for securing cargo to prevent movement during transit.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while handling cargo.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to minimize risk of injury.

Documentation:

Complete necessary paperwork related to cargo handling, including manifests, tally sheets, and inspection reports.

Maintain accurate records for tracking purposes.

Communication:

Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other personnel involved in the loading process.

Relay important information regarding cargo status or any issues encountered during handling.

Maintenance Duties:

Conduct basic maintenance checks on loading equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.

Report any malfunctions or safety hazards immediately to supervisors.

Work Environment

Cargo loaders typically work in fast-paced environments such as airports, shipping docks, or freight terminals. The job often requires physical stamina due to the manual handling of heavy items and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The role involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, repetitive motions, walking or running short distances between vehicles or storage areas, and operating machinery under potentially hazardous conditions.
