As an Academic Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. You will provide personalized advice and assistance to help students achieve their educational and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Guidance and Counseling:

Meet with students individually or in groups to assess their academic goals and challenges.

Provide academic counseling and guidance on course selection, study habits, time management, and career planning.

Assist students in understanding academic policies, requirements, and procedures.

Support Services Coordination:

Coordinate and refer students to support services such as tutoring, mentoring, and counseling as needed.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student academic concerns and promote student success initiatives.

Educational Planning and Advising:

Help students develop academic plans and pathways that align with their interests, strengths, and career aspirations.

Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to address academic difficulties or barriers.

Career Development:

Provide resources and guidance related to career exploration, internships, job search strategies, and graduate school applications.

Assist students in developing resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.

Student Advocacy and Support:

Advocate for students' needs and rights within the academic institution.

Offer emotional support and referrals to counseling services for students facing personal or academic challenges.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation.

Compile and analyze data related to student advising and outcomes for reporting purposes.
